Edit paragraph 1 using the Success Criteria Work on paragraph 2 Print, if necessary Peer Editing on both paragraphs using the Success Criteria Revisit Open Mind Diagrams: Add words, symbols, quotations, pictures, phrases        How has your character grown or changed? Have you seen certain character traits developed? Homework: Finish final draft of your constructed response and PRINT IT prior to 8:30 am on Tuesday for up to full credit. Bring your copy of Inside Out & Back Again on Tuesday or see me today or Tuesday before class to rent one from me.

Period 1 Agenda: Please ask students to do these in order:  Go to the Library page on the Aptos Junior High website. Ask students to take the STARR test. The password for the test is FALLSTAR (all capitalized and all one word) When students finish, they should write ONLY the first paragraph of their constructed response.  They may do this on the ChromeBook or on binder paper. They should have a rough draft of the FIRST paragraph completed by tomorrow. At the end of the period, please ask students to copy their homework into their planners. Homework: Constructed Response:  Complete RD of ONLY paragraph #1  Read and annotate Ch. 12 of The Outsiders . Add to comp book notes. AR is now up and running.  Read a book, get signatures, and take tests within 3 days of finishing a book. d. We will start Inside Out & Back Again on Monday. Pass back work Finish: Understanding Trauma  Presentation In your Comp Book Character Notes--- Apply this knowledge to your character in  The Outsiders. - When have they potentially experienced trauma? - What might the trauma result in? (e.g., what might be going on in their nervous system? what coping mechanisms have they developed?) -If you were this person's peer counselor, what coping mechanisms might you recommend to help them experience post-traumatic growth (think: Salva) rather than another outcome. --If you have extra time, apply this information to another character in The Outsiders . Pick Up: Handout on Sympathetic/Parasympathetic Nervous System Take out your Composition Book and, with your partner, add a "Bob" page. Describe Bob using words, phrases, symbols, and quotations. What was Bob like as a person? How do we know? Leave room to add to this page as you read. When you are finished, discuss Ch. 6 and the annotation strategies you are using.  Do you make notes in the margins? What do they say? How are they useful are they to you? After that, discuss the third article.  What was the gist? Juxtapose this article with the other two. Homework: Read Ch. 7 and annotate it. Continue to add to your character notes in your Comp book.
