Who is who in this photo?
Meet in the library to get your copy of The Outsiders if you need it.
On your way in to class, pick up:
"PBIS: Academics"
and copy homework:
I can trace the development of characters in a literary work.
Success Criteria:
I can effectively annotate the text to identify my character's qualities.
I can produce a Open Mind Diagram with my team that uses quotations, words, symbols, and pictures to exemplify my character.
I can present my team's thinking to the class.
Agenda:
Review Class Expectations
Discuss "Does Reading Make You a Better Person?" with your assigned partner.
1. Do you agree with the premise? Why or why not?
2. Also, how did you annotate it? Was it similar to or different that annotating literature? How so?
Take out Ch. 3 of The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton
With your team of 4, discuss:
--the annotation strategies you used--how have they grown over time?
--the gist of Ch. 3
--how your assigned character developed in Ch. 3 and how you will add that to your Open Mind Diagram
What questions did you have on Chapters 3?
What are some important teamwork strategies?
In your group of 4, map out your assigned character & present to the class.
Begin reading and annotating Ch. 4
Homework:
Read and annotate Ch. 4 tonight. Read for your assigned character in particular. Pick a new strategy to help you track that character's development (if appropriate).
Read ONLY the second article in the "Does Reading Make You a Better Person?" packet. Annotate it.
Complete the "PBIS: Academics" worksheet tonight.
