Annotation Practice
Students
who wish to be placed in the Accelerated English 9 program at Aptos High next year will
be required to purchase and thoroughly annotate a text of the high school's choosing over the
summer between 8th
and 9th grade. In an effort to prepare students for this
challenge, we will ask that students purchase their own copy of each of our
class novels so that they can practice annotation strategies throughout their 8th-grade year.
If it is not possible to purchase a copy of
the required novel, please let me know and I will make sure your child has one.
I highly recommend ordering the book via the ISBN number so the pagination matches. It will make your life easier!

For the purposes of annotation, we will need to use either paperback or hardcover copies of these books. Sorry: eBooks and audiobooks won't work. Hardcover copies will hold up better in your backpack but will weigh more. Feel free to leave your large textbook My Perspectives at home to reduce backpack weight.
We will only be reading one of these books each quarter, so you only need to carry one book at a time. Please leave the other copies at home and bring them on the date due.
When you receive your books, please write your name on the book in a number of places. A fine-tip pen will be helpful for annotations.
For the full supply list, scroll down.
There are lots of places to buy books and school supplies. I have linked some here, but these are not "affiliate links" and do not benefit the accelerated program. Feel free to buy your books and supplies from any vendor you choose.
